| As a former UK Primary and middle school teacher and now a stay at
home mom, Melitsa Avila shares her knowledge about keeping playtime fun
for both parents and children. She's passionate about empowering
parents to engage in practical play activities that cover all the
developmental areas at home without having to buy special onetime use
products, flashcards or electronic equipment.
Melitsa wanted to create a source of activities for parents and children to enjoy, which offered a balance of gross and fine motor activities, social & personal activities, and problem-solving and language activities all in one easily accessible place – www.play-activities.com. Says Melitsa, “I’ve always tried to inject fun into learning. When I was teaching I found kids learned more and did more when they were playing and having fun in lessons. Now I have my own kids. I want them to be playing in a variety of ways to develop a love and curiosity for learning. But above all I want them to be having fun!" Raising Playful Tots is an Internet Radio Talk Show & Podcast dedicated to appropriate play in Early Childhood. Here at Raising Playful Tots she will be sharing tips and talking with others about Early years play as we remembered it from our childhood. Melitsa is a military mom of 3 and started blogging in 2006. |
